On Comparing Your Transformation: What is Real?

For those of you who know me, you know I love social media.

I was in the second-ever cohort of Facebook users, and I love Instagram as a resource of information. (I taught myself to run distance pretty much from shit I read on Instagram.)

Yet, I see a lot of people falling into comparison traps with social media, ignoring the very basic idea that everything is curated.

Much like we allow our critical faculty between the conscious and subconscious mind to lower so that we can enjoy a movie (we forget that there’s lighting, a director, cameras, actors, a set,) we also do this for content we see on the internet. Then, we mistakenly allow ourselves to place judgment on how we’re doing in life.

As a person who has made and continues to make transformation in her own life, I can tell you, there is a hell of a lot of monotony, and times where it feels like “absolutely nothing is happening here.”

If you’re one for falling into a comparison game with others, or you seem to think your timeline isn’t moving quickly enough, this episode is for you.
