“The reason people don't make transformations is not because they don't know what to do.

It is because of who they believe they are, and that belief being incongruent with the actions needed to be taken to achieve their desired result.”

-Andee Scarantino

Transformational Mindset Coaching— What is it?

Transformational Mindset Coaching is a type of coaching that incorporates traditional informational coaching with the coaching of the unconscious mind.

It is for you if you feel utterly stuck, and you just can’t budge in one or many areas of your life, despite trying everything.

I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that someone giving you a “checklist of shit to do” usually doesn’t work. You go in gung ho, guns a-blazin’ but then in about ten days, it seems the resistance overpowers and incapacitates your ability to get over the hump.

You might even find yourself caught in the same thought loop for years, if not decades, bumping into the same mental roadblocks over and over.

This is because the unconscious mind controls 90% - 95% of your life.

The unconscious mind holds data that you wouldn’t even know is in there. That data determines the course of our life, whether or not we are conscious of it. (Most of the time, we aren’t.)

Also, we have a barrier between the conscious and unconscious mind called “critical faculty.”

When someone gives you a suggestion of “stuff to do” or an “action to take,” if that suggestion is incongruent with a belief system in the subconscious mind, OR if there is a fear-based program running without your awareness, you will outright reject any suggestions given to you by anyone.

Your nervous system will probably dose you a generous helping of anxiety as well, JUST TO MAKE SURE you don’t make a different choice.

The problem is, you might not even know this is happening! (I didn’t.)

Your perceived identity is also a part of that.

Here is a great example of how unconscious beliefs and perceived identity keep people stuck; in this case, overweight.

I had a business meeting once with a colleague who has a coaching program for weight loss. He said to me "It's simple, you just need to create a calorie deficit."

Except it's not that simple. People have layers and layers of identity attached to their eating behaviors. Their subconscious beliefs keep them from taking that suggestion.

Macro systems like the government have influenced the standard American diet since we were children with incorrect or incomplete nutritional information.

Then, money-making systems influenced the resulting overweight Americans to do random shit to their bodies in accordance with self-hate, not self-love. (Think ridiculous diet culture, etc.)

There are actually grown-ass women to this day who try to meet the caloric needs of toddlers because of those systems.

Because the aforementioned systems oppress women, the women begin to rebel against them.

Call it good ol' American sovereignty. They reject the systems with the mindset “We will not be oppressed! AT ANY COST!”

Except there is a cost. These women end up rebelling against things that we're naturally meant to do, things that are good for us, like moving our bodies or eating nutrient-dense food. They rebel against that because of the strong undercurrent of subconscious beliefs.

Have you ever been the person so PUT OFF by exercise because it feels like punishment? You might be one of these people.

If someone has a subconscious belief that health is not for them, they will not align themselves with health.

We do not have free will. We just think we do.

BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS you can explore these beliefs in detail when you have someone to hold a mirror and help you REWIRE WHAT LIES UNDER THE SURFACE.

That is what we do in transformational coaching.

Another basic example of societal factors influencing human behavior and identity: drinking alcohol

First, here’s some data about alcohol:

-Linked to at least 7 cancers and a whole host of other diseases -Consuming alcohol- any alcohol, disrupts every process, system, and organ of the body
-Disrupts sleep
-Fuels anxiety
-Impedes Detoxification
-Causes weight gain or interferes with weight loss
-Causes facial redness and broken capilaries
-fucks up your brain
-messes with blood sugar balance -disrupts endocrine (hormone) function -causes premature aging
-Destroys Microbiome

Source: Holly Whitaker - Quit Like a Woman (pp 31-36)

When I introduce this raw data to a person, verbatim, they usually ignore me and zone out.

(You might have even resisted reading this paragraph.)

WHY?

Because OUR SUBCONSCIOUS MINDS OFTEN BELIEVE ALCOHOL IS POSITIVE, and EVERYTHING IN SOCIETY HAS SOLIDIFIED THAT BELIEF. (A great read to back this up: This Naked Mind by Annie Grace)

So, when this data about the harmfulness of alcohol is introduced, it :: boinks :: right off the critical faculty between the conscious and unconscious mind and is completely, outright, ignored.

Also, overuse of alcohol is often a SYMPTOM of a problem, not a problem itself.

The way to see the actual issue is to put the behavior on pause, but many people refuse to get that far because of the perceived shame associated with not doing the behavior.

Alcohol is the only drug in Western Society we have to justify not using…

Essentially, your subconscious mind is feeding you lines that you’re rejecting something positive and good for you. It’s a multi-layered process that is completely neurological.

There’s actually nothing wrong with you… at all.

Who you believe you are is who shows up in the world…

If you do not believe you are the human you want to be, you won’t become that person.

It’s often due to a “not enough,” “not worthy,” or “not capable,” story, but you can be comforted by knowing that self-hate is a result of mental rehearsal.

If you feel stuck in your life, your job, your relationship, or in a habit you want to break, that’s not because you have made any irreversible errors that forever deem you a failure. You simply have some well-trodden neural pathways, and you’re likely living in a time other than now, thus unable to see the path forward as it presents today.

It's strongly believed that your brain's plasticity begins solidifying past age 25.

I've seen quite a few sources for this including my favorite, Dr. Joe Dispenza, but really I speak from personal experience. THINGS WERE MUCH HARDER after age 25. I watched so much of myself and my life become habituated, not only with my behaviors but also my personality.

How did I make changes?

Full disclosure, first, I had the glorious benefit of a rock bottom moment when I was 32 that allowed the world to, if only for less than a second, become blurred and then refocused. I saw in that moment myself as the pure creator of everything in my life. So, grinding your life into the ground is an option.

You don't have to go through that, though. THERE IS ANOTHER WAY, and that’s transformational coaching.

My coaching involves Identity Work, Mindset Mastery, and Present-Moment Awareness.

We will explore these principles together:

1. Eliminate Limiting Beliefs
2. Renegotiate Your Identity (in a way that feels good and right.)
3. Regulate your NERVOUS SYSTEM
4. Micro-Steps Forward 👣

“What does a coach do, and how do you do it differently?”

GREAT questions:

We all do similar work. We just do it in different ways, with different people.

The work itself allows you to see the things hidden from you because of your own mind. You have all of your answers (as do I, as does everyone,) but because of the years/decades of micro and macro (systemic) programming, you may not have access to that information. (I have a master’s degree in sociology, so I do not ignore facilitating understanding of your systemic programming.)

I am by default a logician, so I tend to work with people who are fiercely intelligent and curious. At first, they usually don’t want a coach at all because they’re steadfast in being amazing in so many areas on their own. They’re witty, sometimes funny, and are destined to change the world. And, they have one or many areas that they secretly can’t budge, and they want to get free of that. (Notice: use of the word “free.”)

I am trained in coaching the unconscious mind. Typically while the conscious mind wants to know the “why” and “logic,” the unconscious mind gives few to no fucks. That’s why you can be smarter than fuck and still stuck. So, we have to coach both of those parts of the mind, simultaneously, but separately. (I call this “the voodoo,” and it’s wild and cool.)

My coaching is also a daily experience—we exchange notes in a Google Doc volley back and forth just about every day. This not only brings your awareness to the present moment but also gets you into practice of hearing your own voice through writing.

All change happens here and now, not in a distant future. My clients learn to stop the “future tripping” and start to see the path/answers revealed to them in real-time. Many of us “miss” information because we psychologically live in a time that isn’t now. We’ve been trained that way, and, like everything, it is undoable.

Also, I’m spiritual! You’d probably never guess by the GTFO language, because shocker— you can be spiritual and keep your personality, even if it is one that swears.

I help my clients get “out of the logic and into the magic.” ✨

Western Society did not teach you the “paradox,” which is that things are both “this” and “that.” I’m a student of non-duality (I study Tibetan Buddhism, Taoism, and Kabbalah) and I love to bring non-duality to the lives of others.

It’s freeing as hell when concepts don’t have to “battle” in your mind.

Transformational Mindset Coaching has changed my life, and it’s a gift I love to share with others.

There’s nothing more powerful than knowing that yes, actually, you can exist differently than you always have.

Learning to operate my own mind has helped me do everything from lose over 50 pounds, to quit smoking, stop drinking, start running marathons, and quit my job to start my own business.

Before that, I was stuck for years on “the rollercoaster” I now so actively rebel against.

Give yourself the gift of a conversation. Your brain might have you resisting it with a narrative “I don’t need that,” but I promise you cannot solve problems with the same thinking that created them.

Like the famous Apple slogan from the late 90s: Think Different.
