The Importance of Community For Personal Growth

I begin this podcast with my age-old “story” —
“I HATE COMMUNITY.”
I’ve been saying this for just about all of my life, yet finding community was the thing that helped me change my entire life back in 2018 and continues to help aid and facilitate for me tremendous understanding, awareness, and growth.
When you lack community, you lack evidence that things can be different.
You are the makeup of the five to six people closest to you, and if they are stagnant, afraid, self-loathing, dramatic, stuck in victim consciousness, etc, etc, you might not see that life, and other people, truly can be any way.
Finding community allows you to break through the barrier of the known self.
For me, had I relied on the people I knew for support and guidance, I’d have had the recipe that those people knew how to create. It was branching out, and being willing to sit in a space where I was uncomfortable that I learned a new way of being. My gratitude for my earliest community remains unmatched.
Even though sometimes it’s like pulling teeth, I force myself to sit in community several times per week and be with different, interesting humans. This is how I learn about myself and the world. People are the accelerant.
This podcast is a personal narrative, but as you listen to it, I’d encourage you to perhaps try to hear something in a way you haven’t before.
